Night Market is an annual event at NYU during which the Taiwanese American Student Society (TASS) recreates a characteristic part of Taiwanese culture—its night markets. The night markets in Taiwan are comprised of numerous makeshift stands that sell food and drinks, merchandise, and games; and that feature local or famous artists. These night markets in Taiwan attract people of all ages and backgrounds.
Similarly, in the past NYU TASS’s own night markets have drawn crowds of over 600 people. We have served a great variety of traditional Taiwanese “Small Eats,” desserts, and drinks and hosted an assortment of fun game booths at which guests play darts, basketball, mahjong, pachinko, and more. Both traditional and contemporary performances continue onstage throughout the entire evening. NYU TASS Night Market is unique to the NYU community because it highlights the many and varied cultural aspects of Taiwan in one majestic night filled with food, games, and performances!
